Erik Hekman was born in Nijmegen in 1982 and holds a Bachelor's degree in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the Applied University of Arnhem and Nijmegen. Next he completed a Master of Media Technology at Leiden University.
Currently he is working at research group Human Experience & Media Design. His main subjects are Social Media, Cross Media, Interactive High-Definition Television, and (Digital) Cultural Heritage. At the moment he is working on his PhD research about the value of social media and how money could be earned with it.
In addition to his research activities, Hekman provides lectures for the Digital Communication study, mainly for the courses Web Design, Object-oriented Design, Computer Programming and Research.
