Nele Goutier (1989) graduated in 2015 from the international, two-year Master in Journalism, Media & Globalization at Aarhus University (Denmark) and the University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands). She previously studied Cultural Anthropology and Development Studies at Radboud University Nijmegen (The Netherlands), Political Sciences at Université de Paul Valéry (France) and Documentary Direction at the International School for Film and Television (Cuba).
After graduating, Nele gained experience as a multi-media journalist at Filosofie Magazine, Human, Radio Netherlands Worldwide and RTL Nieuws. Soon, she started her career as a journalism researcher at the University of Amsterdam for the NewBeats project. In collaboration with four Australian Universities she delved into the consequences of the lowering job opportunities in the journalistic field.
Both during this researchproject and while working for different journalistic outlets, Nele witnessed the challenges that journalists are facing in an age of rapid digital transformation. She decided she wanted to investigate opportunities for journalistic innovation that could support the profession.
At the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht, Nele is researcher for the researchproject Immersive Journalism, that focuses on the possibilities of technologies such as Virtual and Augmented Reality. Beside that, Nele is delving into the consequences and potential opportunities of Artificial Intelligence for journalism.
