Upon completion of his study in Language and Literature at Utrecht University, Oliver worked for a number of years in the business world before becoming a German teacher in 2001. Through his years of experience in secondary school, including eight years working at Werkplaats Kindergemeenschaap in Bilthoven, Oliver developed extensive expertise in bringing innovations to life and converting theoretical concepts and vision to subject-specific pedagogical activities within a school context. Since 2014, he has worked at Institute Archimedes for the German Teacher Training Programme and as Curriculum Coordinator he has been the driving force behind innovations in the educational offerings in the Master’s programme for upper-form German teachers. Within the research group, Oliver has conducted a research project entitled “Subject-Specific Approaches of Native and Non-Native Speaking German Teachers: An Analysis of Strengths and Weaknesses Aimed at Improving Teacher Training and the Field of Education.” Research has been conducted into the work-related interactions between native and non-native speaking teachers of German as to how co-teaching can benefit the teaching practice and the significance for teacher training programmes.
