Renée van der Nat is currently working on her PhD on interactive storytelling in Dutch online journalism. With two master degrees, one in New Media and Digital Culture and one in Journalism and New Media, Renée combines research methods from humanities and journalism studies in order to figure out how interactivity affects journalistic stories, the creation process of these stories, and the audience. Her PhD is scheduled to finish in 2020.
Previous research areas include data visualizations in print and online journalism, and innovations in newsrooms. Renée teaches multimedia storytelling and research at the Utrecht School for Journalism.
